Mission Statement

The mission of the Indian Beach Police Department is to serve the community with professionalism, pride, and integrity. We will respect and protect the rights of individuals and enforce all laws and ordinances in a fair and impartial manner and preserve the Constitutional Rights of all citizens. We will work with the community to prevent crime, loss or damage to property, protection against criminal attack, and preserve order in public places.

Community Services

Indian beach police department offers many services for its residents and the general public alike. The services are provided on a ‘pre request’ basis which require individuals to contact the police department or submit proper applications.

1. Community Relations

Officers are available to speak to individual homeowners or at homeowner association meetings on topics that include; personal safety, residential security, crime trends, motor vehicle law changes or any other requested topic. A two week notice prior to the event date is required. All requests should be made to the police department in the form of an email or letter.

2. Residence Check Request

A residence check form should be completed and submitted to the police department. This service is provided year round to Indian Beach residents.

3. Welfare Check Request

A welfare check on any resident or visitor can be (requested) at anytime by contacting the police department. Phone: (252)247-6700

4. Ride Along Request

The police department requests that anyone interested in participating in a ride along makes their request by phone. Requests are taken Monday – Friday between 9am – 12pm. Phone: (252)247-6700. A release of liability will have to be completed prior to ride along.

5. Golf Cart Permits

Golf cart registrations and inspections are conducted 7 days a week from 9am – 12pm. Applicants must provide the officer registering the cart with proof of insurance. No exceptions! The cost for golf cart permits is $25.00. The golf cart ordinance can be found here.

6. Beach Driving Permit

Beach permits are issued 7 days a week from 9am – 12pm. Applicants must have a 4 wheel drive vehicle and provide a valid drivers license, vehicle registration and proof of insurance. An annual permit cost is $30.00 and valid from September through May. Hours of vehicle operation on the beach are between 5am – 8pm.
